The Air Jordan 3 was released in 1988 after Michael Jordan's famous free throw victory in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest . These are the first Air Jordan created by legendary designer Tinker Hatfield and the first to replace the Wings logo with the iconic Jumpman logo. This is also the first Air Jordan to feature visible Air units and an elephant print on the upper. The White and Cement Gray colorway is the first of four classic colorways and Jordan's choice for the 1988 Dunk Contest.
