The Lance Mountain x Air Jordan 1 Retro SB QS pays homage to the 1987 skate video "The Search for Animal Chin," which features Pasadena pro skater Lance Mountain wearing the Air Jordan 1 "Royal" on left foot and white/Carolina blue Air Jordan 1s on the right. Back then, Jordans were adopted by West Coast skaters for their durable leather, high ankle coverage, and Nike Air technology. To extend the life of their Jordans, skaters wore mismatched pairs, sometimes dyeing them the same color to create a cohesive look.
