The EX89 combines the heritage of the 1989 GEL-EXTREME basketball model with modern cushioning. The model was originally created by Toshikazu Kayano in the late 1980s? as his first design project at ASICS. The multi-layered leather construction on the upper is also complemented by vibrant colors that match the iconic NBA team uniforms of the era. The shock absorption system has been updated with FF BLAST technology. It features a sculpted heel for added comfort. The sole pattern replicates the view of the city from the sky. The designer was inspired by his first business trip to the USA in 1987 to create this functional feature of the sole.
